I agree with your opinion regarding the inner power and beauty that our eyes often portrait clearly. I would make a little correction here, as a professional translator, the word for the "mirror" here would be the "reflection" in Russian written translation, as the mirror itself is an unpersonified metaphoric object, rather than an action in progress as the subject of comparison.
Eyes are the reflection of our soul, but what happens when we wear contacts?:)
